Unofficial Reverse Big Bang Author Check-In
dragonagebb:
Hello, all! We’re just over a week away from the final art deadline on Thursday, May 30th - we’ve gotten some AMAZING pieces so far, and if the check-ins are any indication, we’ve got a lot more awesome stuff to come!
That also means we’re about a week and a half away from author claiming - don’t forget, authors, that you’ll be claiming art pieces on Saturday, June 1st! More information about time and process will be forthcoming next week.
As we’re trying to gauge how much activity to expect on claiming day, we’d like to hold a little unofficial check-in for potential Reverse Big Bang authors. Note: this is NOT binding, one way or the other! If you answer us here, you’re not completely committed to claiming an art piece. Also, if you don’t answer this, you’re still able to claim on the 1st, just as long as you’ve signed up! This is merely to take an informal poll, to get an idea of how many of our potential authors might still be with us.
So, if you’re reading this, and you’re signed up as an author - if you still plan to claim an art piece on June 1st, would you be so kind as to either reply to this post or reblog it? It would help us figure out some of our plans. :)
Tentative check-in. As in, I plan to look at the options for claiming and put in a claim request if there’s something I think I can do justice for.

“Our shields can’t hold much longer,” Lieutenant Lucas called out over the blare of the alarm systems as the ship was rocked by another missile hit, “and we’re being hailed.”
“On screen,” Captain French ordered, and was shocked when the viewscreen was filled not with the commander of the attacking ship, but a strange gold-green face with an impish grin.
“Well, dearie,” said this new alien, “it looks like you’re in a bit of a tight spot, and I may be just the one to get you out of it — if you’re willing to make a deal.”
break the like button! I need a full length fic of this please!
Aww, thank you so much! I will do what I can! xD

Definite potential. Is au:space on your bingo card? Hit 500 words, and you could submit this during amnesty :)
It is on my bingo card, but I assumed I’d already lost at trope bingo. You know, not filling a single space on my card and all.
Meh, there’s no real win or lose. (Or rather, anyone who gets inspired to write something they wouldn’t have otherwise wins.) The only prize for posting a full bingo by the deadline is a banner graphic. It’s currently in amnesty where you can post anything you wrote on your card, regardless of whether it makes a bingo or anything.
So if you’re inspired to write more of this (which I would love to see), you can post a link to it on the trope bingo comm with an amnesty tag so that audience can see it, too.

They’re not something I’ve ever experienced, and I rarely get headaches. If you feel like sharing (if not that’s totally ok), I’d appreciate it for writer’s reference, possibly with Kaidan if I ever write a drabble. What does it feel like? What sensations (if any) do you have in terms of the five senses- taste, touch, hearing, smell, sight? What sensitivities? What works to treat it, and what do people think works that doesn’t? Are you able to manage through daily responsibilities? How does it impact your work, your relationships? How does your family react, your coworkers, your friends? What reactions/advice have you had from doctors in the past? What medical treatments do you undergo for it?
You may already have more information than you need, but in case another data point would help…

Calm After the Storm (Mass Effect, de-aging)
Title: Calm After the Storm
by aphreal42
Mass Effect 1, ~1400 words, trope bingo amnesty entry for “de-aging”
———————————————————
Kaidan woke up stiff and disoriented, trying to remember where he was and why he’d been sleeping sitting upright in his uniform. He rolled his neck and shoulders, sore from resting in an unnatural angle against a headboard and bulkhead wall. The dim glow from the terminal screen confirmed that he was in the captain’s quarters, not somewhere he would ever have expected to fall asleep when they belonged to Anderson. And if he’d considered the idea now that Shepard was in residence, well, the likelihood had seemed pretty remote, all things considered.
The body pressed against him shifted, Shepard stirring in her sleep. That was probably what had woken him up in the first place. He stretched his neck a couple more times, trying to clear the fog from his mind enough to deal with Shepard if she was waking up. He needed to be prepared for either the panic and terror she’d been stuck in the past few days or whatever other reaction – likely outrage – if she’d finally come back to her senses.

dragonageconfessions:
CONFESSION: Sometimes I start talking to my companions in the game (about quests/the setting, etc) or replying to things they say to my character. Especially in DAO, because she couldn’t participate in party banter, I tended to do it for her.
This is frequently how I end up starting fanfics. The character has something to say that isn’t in the standard options, and they’re determined to say it regardless. Even if it’s “I am not having this conversation with you.”
Reblog with your 10 favorite ships.
chenria:
I am somewhat bored… (no tablet to draw here at my parents’ place)… so… 10 ships ò.ó
XD
- Meriana Cousland/Alistair Theirin
- Meriana Cousland/Teagan Guerrin (modern AU)
- Gwen Cooper/Rhys Williams
- Jaina Proudmoore/Arthas Menethil
- Rogue/Gambit
- Valeria Hawke/friendmanced Fenris
- Cordelia Chase/Angel
- Zell Dincht/Seifer Almasy
- Brooke Davis/Lucas Scott
- Alec Cousland/Nathaniel Howe
This is mostly a test to see if I have 10 ships…
- Alexia Cousland/Alistair
- Mica Shepard/Kaidan
- Alexia/Nate (in AUs where Alistair is unavailable)
- Snow/Charming
- Rogue/Gambit
- Autumn Hawke/Anders
- Rogue/Bobby (movieverse)
- Theron Mahariel/Gwen Tabris (in multiWarden AUs, obviously)
- Alistair/Nate (Alexia finds this idea confusing and tries to ignore it)
- Josh Lyman/Donna Moss (wow, it’s been years since I read wingnut fic)
Conclusion: it takes 5+ fandoms and prompting from signcherie, but I can scrape together a list of 10 ships I care about. (Note: This doesn’t mean I’m opposed to other ships, just not specifically invested in them.)
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAND LOTION AND REGULAR LOTION?
Disclaimer: This is my best, logical guess but may not be a definitive answer.
Short, semi-glib answer: Marketing, mostly :)
More detailed thought-involving answer: Moisturising intensity, I would guess. Hands are more prone to get dry than most of our skin, due to increased washing and/or exposure to things that remove oils from the skin. So creams/lotions intended specifically for hands are often specifically intended to replenish that lost skin moisture. They’re often also thicker in consistancy and intended to absorb quickly or more fully since we need to use our hands so much and don’t want them leaving greasy residues on things.
Practical answer: So if the goal of this question is determining usage, I would say that there’s no reason hand lotion must be used exclusively on the hands, but using it on other skin areas may result in over-moisturizing them unless they’re particularly dry areas of skin (like elbows or feet, for example).
